HEY BDC/MBC ALUMNI!
Dear MBC/BDC Alumni,
As MBC begins its 33rd year of ministry in New England, I am so proud of all that our camp community has been able to accomplish over the course of its profound history. Thanks to His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios, over 10,000 young people have passed through MBC/BDC’s embrace, and our alumni know better than anyone the impact that camp has had on their lives. Even just this week, Fall Camp registration opened with pre-pandemic capacity and sold out in under 30 minutes, generating a waiting list equaling about 40% of our capacity! Over the last few years, MBC has continued to open its embrace to hundreds of young people despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic brought upon our camp’s families, operations, and budget.
This year, MBC saw an unprecedented $46,000 of aid requested while registering for summer camp which was met in full. While the true cost of attending summer camp rests at close to $1,300 per camper, families are able to register their children for only $600. Because of the generosity and love of many faithful people throughout the Metropolis, MBC has kept its registration affordable for all and has never turned away anyone due to financial barrier.
Many of our alumni, like me, at some point throughout their tenure at MBC were recipients of this generosity. Now your home is asking you to ensure that MBC continue its longstanding policy of both keeping camp affordable for all and never turning any camper away for reasons of financial strain on their family. On behalf of the thousands of individuals who have passed through MBC’s embrace and the hundreds of young people MBC will welcome over the course of its Fall, Winter, and Summer Camps this coming year, we ask you to consider supporting our camping ministry by making a donation to MBC’s only annual fundraiser, the 23rd Annual Metropolis of Boston Camp Golf Classic at campgolf.org.
Additionally, many of our alumni passed through BDC’s/MBC’s doors quite some time ago with different addresses, emails, and phone numbers! Our team would love to connect with you and learn where you currently find yourself. Below, you will see a link to fill out your contact information for our alumni database. By providing some information below, you will be able to receive the latest updates on all things MBC - including events, alumni gatherings, and ways to support our home away from home.
Thank you for supporting this most important and impactful ministry! Visit boston.goarch.org/mbcsummer2022 for a recap of this most recent summer!
With much love and respect,
