Camp days are beautiful and busy
chapel
Each day begins in the chapel for Orthos at 8am. Everyone sings together, and all are welcome at the chant stand. Campers volunteer to read the daily Epistle. The priest shares a brief message, and the camp spends a few minutes of silence, Alone with God.
Camp Mornings
The fun begins right away! Campers line up with their cabins outside the cafeteria, and pray before the meal. Games begin as cabins wait for their line to be called in. Once inside, campers choose from delicious hot breakfast options, cold cereal, and a yogurt and fruit bar. Don't forget to drink your water!
Sessions
After breakfast, age groups head out to their session rotations for the morning. This can include Orthodox Life (OL), waterfront, athletics, arts and crafts, and Greek music and culture. At Daylight, campers can select from many options; everything from hiking, chanting, and relaxation station! And of course, Saturday Olympics!
Mid-Day
When the bell rings, the camp returns for lunch with a side of shenanigans. Check your plate for the Green Gizmo! Following lunch, everyone heads back to their cabins for a quiet siesta before the afternoon activities resume.
Half time
After siesta, the campgrounds are filled with the joyful sound of campers as they choose their free time activities. Often starting with a visit to the camp store for a drink and a snack, campers will relax on the office porch, bring out their instruments, go for a swim or take out a canoe, or play a game with friends. Opportunities are endless!
Cabin time
After a busy day, everyone heads back to their cabins to shower, change for the evening activity (don't forget your themed gear!), and clean their cabins. Cleanest Cabin inspectors will come visit before Vespers - will your cabin win?
Chapel
Back to the chapel! The camp gathers for Vespers and Evening Light-a short message from the priest based on the theme and conversations from the day.
Evening Program
From Vespers, everyone heads to dinner! We celebrate special days together, and enjoy another delicious meal. Before the evening activity, campers gather with their cabins once more for Spiritual Journey; an opportunity to follow up on conversations from OL, ask questions of the clergy, or learn about the lives of the saints.
Evening activities
Evening activities range from themed dances, campfires, talent shows, carnivals, and so much more! Keep an eye out for the ice cream truck, and remember to check out the dress up themes for the week!
Bedtime
At the end of the night, the whole camp will circle up to chant "Lord of the Powers" before dispersing for the evening. Cabins are dismissed by age group, with JOY Campers going to bed by 9pm. Once in the cabin, each group will hold a Devotional, led by staff, to reflect on the day and close out any lingering conversations, and to build unity among the cabin. Lights out for POP by midnight!
